22 Pies Crianza is a red wine of a fresh and elegant style that clearly reflects the richness of the Rioja terroirs. About 22 Pies Crianza

22 Pies is a single-variety Tempranillo red wine made by Locos del Vino in the D.O.C. Rioja in La Rioja, Spain.

Selected clusters from two Rioja regions are used to make the 22 Pies wine: the Tempranillo comes from Rioja Alta and provides an fresh fruit expression, excellent acidity and good aging potential, and the Tempranillo is from Rioja Alavesa, from a terroir with a climate of colder nights which lengthens the grape ripening time and brings freshness to the wines in warmer years.

These grapes come from vineyards with vines ranging from 15 to 25 years old and they ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The resulting wine ages for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, some of which are new.

22 Pies is a tribute to the Spanish picaresque who has always been very fond of wine. The label depicts the story of 11 tiny wine thieves who steal the best bottles of wine from innkeeper Durán. This is a fresh and casual wine that is part of the Locos del Vino project, which aims to bring people closer to the wines from some of Spain’s most characteristic wine regions.
