Akilia Villarin 2022 is a young red wine that dazzles with its fresh and vibrant character. From the outset, the nose is filled with aromas of ripe strawberries and juicy cherries, accompanied by a subtle hint of fresh herbs that add complexity. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, well-balanced, with solid tannins that achieve an impressive structure. The oak is discreetly integrated, enhancing its flavour without overpowering it. The 2022 harvest has resulted in a darker and more mature Akilia Villarin that captivates with its persistence and elegance. Its limited edition makes it a delicacy you cannot afford to miss.

About Akilia Villarín

Akilia Villarín is a red wine from the D.O Bierzo produced by the Akilia winery. This is a single variety wine made with the Mencía grape.
 

Villarín Akilia is made with grapes taken from 1 hectare of vineyards, home to clay loam soils on a strata of slate and quartzite. The estate, which lends the wine its name, has an east facing oritentation. The vineyards are almost a century old, and grows its vineyards using goblet training.
 

The harvest is carried out manually, with small boxes being used to carry and transport the grapes, ensuring that the grapes arrive at the winery in the best possible condition. Grapes from the different plots are all vinified separately, although the various processes are carried out in the same concrete tanks, where the wine is also aged for 9 months.  
 

Located in El Bierzo, the Akilia winery works on two main principles, respect for the surrounding environment, and the cultivation of old vines, situated at 600 metres above sea level.

2015 Akilia Villarín 2015 is a juicy red wine with fruity aromas, floral notes of roses and oak touches. On the palate it is fresh, light and flavoursome. It has a mild acidity, elegant tannins and very well integrated wood.
2013 I reside in a realm of splendid texture. It's a harmonious blend of fruity and spiced notes, yet exudes a delicate simplicity. Light and clear cherry hue. Of medium intensity, it reveals balsamic touches, hints of licorice, and blackberry nuances.
