About Albamar Fusco

Albamar Fusco is a monovarietal Mencía red wine from the Ribeira Sacra produced by Bodegas Albamar.

Albamar consists of a family project located in the municipality of Cambados (Pontevedra) that was founded 25 years ago. Baptised with the acronym that joins the family name Alba, and the fact that its vineyards are by the sea, this winery presents wines made with minimal intervention and a strong Atlantic character.

However, Albamar Fusco is a very particular creation. It consists of a red wine that comes from inland Galicia, far from the sea. Specifically in the sub-area of Chantada. A red wine made with vines that are between 30 and 40 years old, planted on granite and clay soil and bathed by a continental climate.

The creator of this initiative, Xuxo Alba, is committed to minimum interventionism, both in the vineyard and in the winery. A grape that has been harvested at its optimum point of ripening, and that, once harvested and destemmed, is fermented with skins and without stems for 20 days. For it ageing, Albamar Fusco rests on lees for between 4 and 6 months in stainless steel tanks, resulting in small, high quality productions.

Albamar Fusco consists of a fresh wine that is easy to drink and well balanced. A slightly spicy red wine that will allow you to enjoy the qualities of Mencía from Ribeira Sacra.

2021

Albamar Fusco 2021 is a supple red wine suffused with scents of fresh red fruit, floral undertones, and mineral nuances. On the palate, it presents a silky texture, vivacity, and harmonious balance. This medium-bodied, succulent wine exhibits pronounced acidity, discernible tannins, and a lengthy, unadulterated finish.
2018 Albamar Fusco 2018 is a fresh and pleasant wine that reveals aromas of red fruit on the nose together with spicy touches, and on the palate freshness, liveliness and warmth.
