Tasting notes Andrew Will Sorella 2017

Red wine Aged in wood. 18 months in French oak barrels.

Andrew Will Sorella 2017 is a red wine that doesn't seek the spotlight; it naturally commands it. It is sheer intensity encapsulated in a glass: it unfurls deep aromas of black fruit, fine tobacco, and graphite, as if the forest and the winery were joining hands. On the palate, the texture is impeccable, silky, and enveloping, with layers of black cherry, ripe plum, and a whisper of spice reminiscent of cinnamon and bitter cocoa. A wine that accompanies important conversations, shared silences, and intimate celebrations without interrupting, yet enhancing everything around it. True class never needs to raise its voice.

About Andrew Will Sorella

Andrew Will Sorella is a red wine coupage of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec varieties produced by the Andrew Will winery in Vashon, Washington, United States.

Andrew Will Sorella is a blend of grapes where the Cabernet Sauvignon variety dominates in the best possible way. The name, “sorella”, which means sister in Italian, was given to the wine in honour of the late sister of Chris Camarda, owner and producer at the Andrew Will winery. The label of the bottle features Anne, Chris’s wife, who died in 2005.

The grapes come from the Champoux Vineyard, one of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Horse Heaven Hills with sandy, loess soils and sediments on a slope. The strains have an average age of 40 years old. The bunches are traditionally vinified and the resulting wine is aged in French oak barrels for around 18 months.

Andrew Will is a small garage-style winery where Chris Camarda makes Bordeaux-style wines that continue to get rave reviews year after year. These are small productions that are made in a traditional way and are some of the most sought-after Washington wines in the world.

2016 Andrew Will Sorella 2016 is a red wine that offers aromas of cassis, smoked earth, graphite and chocolate on the nose. On the palate it is concentrated, with sweet tannins and beautiful purity. A red wine with body and a great finish where the Cabernet Sauvignon reveals its best qualities.
