The Italian wine tradition has an incredibly long and rich history dating back thousands of years. It is one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world, and its winemaking heritage is an integral part of its culture and heritage. The Antinori family is one of the oldest and most respected winemaking families in Italy, with a winemaking tradition that dates back more than 600 years. They have been wine producers in Tuscany since the Middle Ages and are known for their innovation in wine production, particularly in the creation of Super Tuscan wines. Owner of prestigious wineries like Tenuta Tignanello and Tenuta Guado al Tasso, each one of its products is well loved all over the world. One of the most outstanding and emblematic wines is Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore, a wine that represents excellence in wine production from the Bolgheri region, in the heart of Tuscany, and from a family that has dedicated its whole self to this work.

Made since 1990, Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore comes from vineyards located in what is known as the “Bolgheri Amphitheatre”, a series of gently sloping hills with sandy-clay and silty-clay soils and wide temperature variations. These are traditionally grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot vines that are harvested and selected by hand. In the winery, the grapes from each plot ferment separately in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures for 15-20 days. The wine is then racked to barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place and finally, the wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels before bottling.

Part of the DOC Bolgheri Superiore, Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore is a Super Tuscan made by one of Italy’s most prestigious winemaking families who are known for defying traditional denomination regulations and using non-traditional grape varieties in their blends. A great example of the Bolgheri Superiore splendour.

Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore 2020 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruit over a herbal background. On the palate it is sweet, silky and enveloping. A medium-bodied wine with integrated acidity, a tannic texture and a long, lingering finish.
