About Arnaud Lambert Brézé Clos Du Midi

When two entities come together, they can use their individual strengths to have a more significant impact and achieve higher quality. It is a powerful method that is used in many situations, including the merger of wine estates like Domaine Arnaud Lambert, a project started in 1996 from the joining together of two prestigious wine estates in the Loire region (France), the Domaine de Saint Just and the Château de Brézé. The first is located in the commune of Saumur and has 15 ha of vines, and the second, also with 15 ha, is considered one of the highest quality terroirs in the Saumur denomination. Known as one of the most talented organic winemakers in the Loire, Arnaud Lambert’s wines stand out for being pure, precise and elegant.

At this winery, they make Arnaud Lambert Brézé Clos Du Midi, a single-variety Chenin wine that comes from a single site called “Clos de Midi” which is located in one of the coldest areas of Brézé and has soil composed of sand, clay and sandy limestone. Focussed on organic viticulture, the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. Once in the winery, the clusters are pressed whole and the resulting must is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged 90% in these same tanks and 10% in old French oak barrels for 4 months. Finally, it is lightly filtered and has a minimal amount of SO2 added just before bottling.

An old-vine, natural Chenin, Arnaud Lambert Brézé Clos Du Midi is a white wine that authentically reflects the region’s terroir and character. A wine that discovers the magic of the Loire Valley and has cemented Arnaud Lambert’s position as a producer of quality wines with a rich history and tradition.

 

2021

Arnaud Lambert Brézé Clos Du Midi 2021 is a defined white wine with aromas of white flowers, notes of yellow fruit and hints of flint. On the palate it is broad, voluminous and elegant. A subtle wine with vibrant acidity, a crisp mid-palate and a brisk finish with hints of sea salt that will improve over the next 20 years in the bottle.
