About Artuke Trascuevas

Committed to the terroir and the crafting of wines with a distinct identity in Rioja, a diverse and dynamic group of young vintners and winemakers joined forces in 2015 to create the Rioja’n’Roll project. An alternative voice proposing a wine style that transcends geographical and administrative constraints, promoting a clear interest in nature, culture, and tradition. Among the members of this initiative who share this philosophy is Artuke, a winery whose name is an acronym of the two brothers responsible, Arturo and Kike de Miguel, located in the Rioja-Alavesa town of Baños de Ebro. Consequently, they present wines deeply rooted in their environment and landscape, with a distinctive and highly personal character.

Among their productions, Artuke Trascuevas is a white wine made from viura, malvasía, and palomino fino grapes sourced from vines over 50 years old planted on clay-limestone soil. They practice environmentally friendly viticulture, employing biodynamic techniques to achieve the highest expression of the terroir. The harvest is done manually, and the grapes are transported in 20-kilogram boxes to the winery. There, the grapes are selected, destemmed, and pressed to initiate fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Afterward, the majority of the wine ages for 10 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, with a small percentage in concrete tanks.

Aware of the tradition and recognition of the Rioja brand, Artuke Trascuevas is a terroir-driven white wine that showcases the best of the denomination. A blend of indigenous white varieties that reveals the authentic Rioja’n’Roll.
