Bela is a wood-aged red wine made by Bodega Bela in the D.O. Ribera de Duero (Castilla y León) with the Tempranillo red variety.
The Bodega Bela winery is a project set up by Rioja wine company CVNE in the D.O. Ribera de Duero when they acquired an old winery called Anta Banderas. The name Bela, nickname for Sofía, is a tribute to the daughter of CVNE’s founder. Located in the town of Villalba de Duero, the winery has 6,000 square metres of buildings and 74 hectares of vineyards and produces high-quality traditional wines.
Bela is made using selected grapes from a vineyard located in Villalba de Duero, in the province of Burgos. These vines are 30 years old on average and planted in clay-calcareous soils at an altitude of 800 m and cultivated using traditional methods.
In the winery, the Bela grapes are cold macerated and then fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine is aged for 9 months in new and one-year-old American and French oak barrels.
Bela is the first CVNE wine from the D.O. Ribera de Duero. A tribute to a winemaking style that never fails.
