About Bernard Baudry La Croix Boissée Blanc

Bernard Baudry La Croix Boissée Blanc is a biodynamic single-variety Chenin Blanc white wine made by Bernard Baudry in the A.O.C. Chinon, in the Loire Valley, France.

The Bernard Baudry La Croix Boissée Blanc wine comes from Chenin Blanc vines growing on highly eroded, south-facing slopes with predominantly limestone and silica soils. These strains were planted between 1994 and 2004 and are harvested manually.

The grapes ferment slowly in 500-litre oak barrels until the yeasts consume all the residual sugar to produce a dry white wine (with less than 2 grams of sugar per litre).

Domaine Bernard Baudry cultivates 32 hectares along the Loire Valley with mostly the Cabernet Franc red variety and a small amount (10% of the vineyard) of Chenin Blanc.

Bernard Baudry is a renowned producer within the A.O.C. Chinon , who comes from a family of winegrowers and works his vineyards according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. Baudry only makes wine with two grapes but the diversity of terroirs in his Domaine offers a whole range of different expressions that result in elegant wines that reflect the landscape and respect the character of the grape varieties honestly and directly.

2018 Bernard Baudry La Croix Boissée Blanc 2018 is a profiled white wine that offers fruity aromas of pears and white peaches, with a refreshing nuance of grapefruit accompanied by floral, mineral and salty notes. On the palate it has a marked acidity and delicate fruit followed by a fine bitterness. A wine with excellent tension and a slender, salty and subtly spicy finish.
