About Carlos Sánchez Bienlarmè Lágrimas Bellas

There is plenty to say about La Rioja these days. There are still many interpretations to be made of this northern Spanish denomination, founded in 1625. And this is what a group of young winemakers are dedicated to doing, willing to squeeze and extract the goodness of small plots, with different terroirs and identities. One of those winemakers is Carlos Sanchez.

His studies led him towards teaching, but he soon realised that his true vocation was in the countryside, finding unique and special vineyards. His adventure began in the Sierra de Gredos, but soon continued in La Rioja Alta, specifically in the area of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, where he found a plot of calcareous sandstone and clay growing Tempranillo and Garnacha. This is where Carlos Sánchez Bienlarmè Lágrimas Bellas comes from.

Carlos Sánchez Bienlarmè Lágrimas Bellas is a red coupage that ferments in stainless steel tanks and undergoes malolactic fermentation in Burgundy barrels. This is a fresh, elegant and complex wine that gets its final touch from 13 months of aging on its fine lees.

Carlos Sánchez Bienlarmè Lágrimas Bellas is neither stabilised nor filtered, and a very limited production of 1,800 bottles is bottled directly. Make sure you get some!
