About Cénit Field Blend Contiesas

Did you know that, in ancient times, winemakers did not differentiate between reds, whites, or clarets? They simply cultivated various grape varieties in the same plot and harvested them together to create a unique wine. This approach, known as Field Blend, is the essence of the collection that Viñas del Cénit has revived to offer us an authentic perspective of the Tierra del Vino de Zamora, in Castilla y León (Spain).

Viñas del Cénit, established in 2004, has committed to reviving this centuries-old tradition, producing wines that reflect the diversity of the region's old vineyards. Among its creations is the Field Blend Bonales, a wine that combines varieties such as godello, verdejo, palomino, and doña blanca, all cultivated in vineyards between 80 and 100 years old situated at an altitude of 750 metres on clay and sandy soils. The harvest is carried out manually, co-fermenting all the varieties together in small vats, and the wine rests for 6 months in French oak barrels.

The result is Cénit Field Blend Contiesas, a wine that expresses the richness and complexity of the Zamora terroir, with a fresh and floral nose, and a balanced and elegant palate. A clear example that sometimes, looking to the past allows us to discover authentic and surprising flavours.
