About Château Clerc Milon

During the French Revolution, land redistribution was a complex and tumultuous process. The main objective was to abolish the feudal system and ensure a more equitable distribution of land ownership. But although the process was complex and not without its difficulties, it laid the foundations for significant transformations in the agrarian structure of France. Château Clerc Milon was one of these redistributed vineyards that ended up in the hands of the Clerc family, hence its name, and in 1855 was classified as Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in the Bordeaux wine classification. In 1970, the 16.5 hectare estate was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild who, convinced of its potential, had the building extensively renovated and succeeded in producing one of the most sublime wines of the Pauillac appellation.

Château Clerc Milon is a red wine made from merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot and carmenère grapes from old vines in a unique terroir of the Pauillac A.O.C., composed of gravelly sandy and limestone-clay soils. A rigorous control of the vineyard and a meticulous selection of plots is carried out in the field, and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripening. Then, in the cellar, the best grapes are carefully selected and destemmed, and fermentation is carried out with native yeasts at controlled temperatures. Finally, the wine is aged for 16–20 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

The result is Château Clerc Milon, an exceptional coupage that reflects the uniqueness of a terroir born of the French Revolution, and the ability of its winemakers to produce an exceptional wine. Undoubtedly a very good option for wine lovers looking for high-quality taste experiences and distinction in every sip.
