This title is well-deserved thanks to a nose brimming with fruit, where peach, citrus, and pear emerge. Accompanying them are notes of anise, floral aromas, and spicy undertones. On the palate, it is incisive and well-balanced, very penetrating and saline. Juicy and chalky. Vibrant and long finish.

About Château Couhins blanc

Château Couhins blanc is a white wine coupage of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris made by Château Couhins in the A.O.C. Pessac-Léognan (in Bordeaux).

Specifically, this wine is a Cru Classé de Graves produced by this winery owned by the National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA), a public body in charge of research on agriculture, food and the environment. Right here, on this site, INRA is developing modern techniques for respectful viticulture, without forgetting the centuries old expertise of the area.

The origin of Château Couhins blanc lies in the 10 hectares that this clos owns one hour from Bordeaux. These north-facing vineyards are planted on clayey soil with calcareous substrates, where water is perfectly stored in the lower layers. Thanks to this, the vines can cope with the summer drought. This climate is also deeply influenced by the Garonne River (to the east), which reduces frost in winter, and the forest (to the west), which provides shelter from the winds and maintains humidity.

Château Couhins blanc is harvested by hand. When the Château Couhins blanc grapes reach the winery, they are destemmed and, after a pellicular maceration (where the must remains in contact with the skins), it is transferred to tanks where 60% will ferment at a controlled temperature. The remaining 40% will be aged in barrels, where it will spend 9 months in contact with its lees. The stirrings and battonages are key to this process where the wine is refined, making Château Couhins blanc embody the pure elegance of Bordeaux.
