About Château Gazin

Château Gazin is a wood-aged red wine made by the winery of the same name with the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties in the prestigious AOC Pomerol, in Bordeaux (France).

Dating back to the Middle Ages, Château Gazin is now owned by the Bailliencourt dit Courcol family. The estate lies on the right side of the Bordeaux wine region, in the commune of Pomerol, producing wines which, like all wines made in this denomination, are not classified but have a great reputation thanks to their spectacular terroirs.

Château Gazin comes from vineyards in the French town of Libourne, near the famous Château Pétrus, in the heart of the AOC Pomerol. These are vines planted on gravel soils and harvested entirely by hand when they reach perfect ripeness, with careful selection in the vineyard.

Each variety used to make Château Gazin undergoes alcoholic fermentation separately in small concrete tanks, with a skin-contact maceration for 2-3 weeks. Then malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks and barrels. Finally the wine ages in new medium oak barrels and is left to refine there for at least 15 months.

Château Gazin is a prototype Pomerol wine at an affordable price. This wine is well worth it, and is praised by significant figures in the winemaking world every year.
