About Château Haut Brion Blanc

Château Haut Brion Blanc is a white wine made from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blancgrapes by Château Haut Brion and belongs to the AOC Pessac-Léognan.

Château Haut Brion is a winery founded in 1525 by Jean de Pontac. It is located in Pessac, a few kilometres from Bordeaux. It is the oldest of the five châteaux qualified in 1855 as Premiers Crus de Bordeaux, but the only one not belonging to the Médoc. It has been owned by the American Dillon family since 1935. As a curiosity, it was the first winery in its category to introduce stainless steel fermentation tanks in the 1970s and theirs were the first Premier Cru to be exported to the United States.

The vineyard for Château Haut Brion Blanc covers an area of 2.7 hectares. The vines have an average age of 35 years and their soils are gravel with a clay-sandy subsoil. They are harvested manually to respect the harvest from the very first moment.

Château Haut Brion Blanc ferments in barrels for about 15-20 days and is also aged in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new, for 13 to 16 months.

Château Haut Brion Blanc displays freshness and power in equal parts. The masterful combination of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and its careful ageing in oak, have made it one of the great white wines of France.
2015 Château Haut Brion Blanc 2015 is an exceptional vintage from a mythical vineyard. A mixture of freshly squeezed citrus fruit, flowers, lemon cream, honeysuckle and flint. Incredibly fresh, vibrant, cheerful and mineral, with a rich texture and with a finish in which the yellow fruit stands out.
2014 Château Haut Brion Blanc 2014 is a wine with aromas of grapefruit, citronella, flowers, citrus peel, honey and vanilla. On the palate layers of citrus peel, lemon cream and honey emerge, until a lingering, fresh and unforgettable finish is reached, soaked in fresh citrus.
2013 Château Haut Brion Blanc 2013 has a nose with aromas of grapefruit, honeysuckle, lemon peel with honey, walnut, floral elements and minerals. On the palate the wine is dense, balanced, lingering and sweet, with a finish that extends in a long and pleasant fashion.
2012 Château Haut Brion Blanc 2012 is a wine whose nose and palate contrast. Its aromas announce a wine with great freshness. Citrus dominates and pink grapefruit invades. We therefore expect a lively wine. However, on entering the mouth it is unctuous, and is a very fatty and powerful wine. The vivacity, forgotten for a moment, returns at the end of the mouth to leave a great persistence. 2012 was a great vintage for Château Haut-Brion Blanc.
