About Château Lafleur

Château Lafleur is a red coupage made with Cabernet Franc and Merlot and classified as an AOC Pomerol, Bordeaux.

Château Lafleur is a winery that has been in the same family since they bought it in 1872. In 1893 it was considered the best wine from the Pomerol denomination, after the Vieux Château Certan and Petrus. It is worth noting that the Malbec vines were removed around 1920 and Cabernet Franc and Merlot vines were planted.

The Château Lafleur vines have an average age of 40 years and the plots have a planting density of around 6,000-7,500 plants per hectare. The soils are gravel, sand and clay and make up a total area of 4.5 hectares. The grapes are manually harvested so that they reach the winery in the best possible condition.

Once in the winery, the Château Lafleur harvest is destemmed and crushed and fermented in cement tanks at a controlled temperature. Finally, once the wine has fermented, it is aged for about 15 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are renewed annually.

Château Lafleur is a powerful and intense Pomerol wine which, depending on the vintage, needs 15 to 30 years to mature into its full potential.
2014 Château Lafleur 2014 is a red wine with prominent aromas on the nose of cherries, smoke, dark flowers, exotic spices and the terroir it comes from. From medium- to full-bodied, with a refined elegance and quality. Pure, complex, with elegant fruit, texture and a great aging potential.
