About Château Montlandrie

Château Montlandrie is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Montlandrie with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties in the AOC Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, in Bordeaux (France).

Château Montlandrie was founded in the late 1800s on the Right Bank by an Italian family, and it is known for its old stone tower that lies in the middle of 12 hectares of vineyards. In 2009 the estate was acquired by Denis Durantou, who also owned Château L'Eglise Clinet, Château Saintayme, Château Les Cruzelles and Château Chenade.

Château Montlandrie comes from vines planted in clay and limestone soils on the Cotes de Castillon plateau. The vineyard is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and in 2013, Cabernet Sauvignon was added. The vineyard is planted with a vine density of 6,000 vines per hectare and lying at 80 metres above sea level.

Château Montlandrie is vinified in 15 small, temperature-controlled stainless steel vats ranging in size from 24 to 82 hectolitres. Malolactic fermentation takes places in vats. 30% of the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for an average of 12 months.

Annual production of Château Montlandrie is no more than 2,250 cases per vintage. A generous red wine with a commendable fruit depth.
