About Château Pesquié Chardonnay Blanc

A favourite estate in the up-and-coming Ventoux region, Chateau Pesquie is run by the talented brothers Alexandre and Frederic Chaudiere, the latest generation to run the business. With great wines that offer finesse, character and elegance, they are the best representation of the southern Rhône Valley, at the foot of the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux, the highest mountain in Provence. Unique terroirs, old vines and organic crops lying at an altitude of 300-400 metres give access to a surprising microclimate and quality wines.

Among the wines that the two brothers release each vintage, Château Pesquié Chardonnay Blanc is a single-variety Chardonnay that was born from the brothers’ father Paul’s desire to grow the world’s most popular white grape variety on the heights of Ventoux to demonstrate that it was possible to make a very fresh and elegant Chardonnay on higher soils. The vineyards are planted on very gravelly limestone soils, at an average altitude of between 200 and 300 m. and all care is sustainable and organic. The grapes are harvested by hand and when they reach the winery, they are crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts at a low temperature, with interrupted malolactic fermentation.

Having demonstrated that Chardonnay grown at altitude in a cool temperature displays the finesse and elegance that Paul predicted, his sons Alexandre and Frederic want to continue to enhance this variety in Château Pesquié Chardonnay Blanc. And that is how the tradition carries on...
