About Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc

Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a Grand Cru Classé white wine coupage of the Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Semillon varieties produced by Château Smith Haut Lafitte in the AOC Pessac Léognan, Bordeaux.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is made with bunches that come from plots with predominantly soils containing gravel from the Gunzian period, and the vines are around 40 years old. The harvest is carried out manually and fermentation takes place in barrels. The resulting wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the current owners of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, decided to reorganise the vineyards in 1990, when they acquired the property, and focus their efforts on organic and sustainable agriculture, which turned into their own style of work which they call Bio-Precision. Using this process, they produce wines with total respect for nature and, above all, under the philosophy of doing everything possible to make sure each vintage of red and white wine is worthy of its magnificent terroir. And they’ve managed it!
