Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2023 is a barrel-aged red wine that shines with a distinctive elegance. On the nose, it unveils a complex bouquet of dark blackberries, blueberries, and flowers, accompanied by subtle spicy hints. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a rich concentration of fleshy fruit and refined, well-structured tannins. Its finish is long and penetrating, with a pronounced mineral note that leaves a lasting impression.

About Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Smith Haut Lafitte with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties in the French denomination of AOC Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux.
 
With more than 600 years of history, Château Smith Haut Lafitte lies in the commune of Martillac, in Graves and takes its name from its 1720 owner George Smith and the Haut Lafitte plateau where the vineyard is located. It is now owned by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, founders of Go Sport stores, who, after Daniel’s father died, decided to sell their business and dedicate their lives to continuing the family legacy.
 
In the vineyard, Château Smith Haut Lafitte relies on the most innovative technology for maximum precision. They use oenoview technology, which provides satellite images to predict the best time to harvest and vinify for each plot. 
 
After being harvested and sorted by hand in the vineyard, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte grapes undergo a second sorting process on a sorting table. Once crushed, they are cold macerated and then fermented in large wood-lined tanks. Finally, the wine ages for 18-20 months in French oak barrels, 65% of which are new. 
 
Aiming to reflect the full potential of a magnificent terroir, Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a fresh, balanced and unctuous wine. Authentic expression of the AOC Pessac-Léognan.
