About Château Sociando-Mallet

Château Sociando-Mallet is a red wine made with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties by Château Sociando-Mallet in the AOC Haut-Medoc, in Bordeaux (France).

The Château Sociando-Mallet winery dates back to when a Breton family settled in the Upper Medoc in the 16th century. This is an important château whose wines perfectly represent the Bordeaux tradition. Today the winery belongs to Bernard d'Halluin, a businessman from the north of France whose dream came true when he bought it.

Château Sociando-Mallet comes from a 92-hectare vineyard. The vines are planted in gravel soils on a clay-calcareous subsoil. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture, limiting the yield to 55 hl/ha and harvesting manually in small boxes.

In the winery, Château Sociando-Mallet is made using traditional methods. Firstly, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation, then malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks at controlled temperatures for about 30 days. The wine then ages in new French oak barrels for 18 months.

Without being classified within the Bordeaux denomination, the Château Sociando-Mallet wine has managed to earn a great reputation. A typical coupage of Médoc varieties that is powerful and delicate in equal measures.
