About Château Tour Saint Christophe
Terraced vineyards are a special form of vine cultivation that has been practised for centuries in various regions of the world. They consist of the construction of terraces or steps on mountain slopes or hillsides in order to cultivate vines on steep slopes. This technique makes it possible to take full advantage of the land and obtain optimal conditions for grape growth. A testament to human ingenuity and adaptation to the environment for the cultivation of vines in difficult terrain, it also offers a wonderful scenic beauty. In the case of Château Tour Saint Christophe, a property overlooking beautiful centuries-old dry stone terraces, this is a unique feature in Saint-Emilion (Bordeaux). Peter Kwok is responsible for restoring the château and reviving the vineyard terraces to benefit from ideal sun exposure and perfect natural drainage conditions.
The result is Château Tour Saint Christophe, a Bordeaux coupage registered in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC and composed of the traditional merlot and cabernet sauvignon varieties. Vines with an average age of 30 years are planted in clay and limestone soils. After a meticulous selection process in the vineyard and in the winery, the selected grapes are fermented in concrete tanks with native yeasts at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels.
The fruit of a micro-landscape of terraces extending into the hillside overlooking the St Laurent valley, Château Tour Saint Christophe is a Grand Cru that reflects the purity of a unique terroir.
