About Château Troplong Mondot

The wineries are increasingly becoming a major attraction for numerous tourists. Wine tourism is experiencing continuous growth. It not only allows visitors to taste a variety of wines but also to learn about the production process, from the vineyard to the bottle, as well as the culture and history of each wine region. Perched atop a small hill, the highest point of Saint Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot is a prestigious estate that meets the highest enotourism expectations. So much so that it even boasts its own hotel and a restaurant; Belles Perdrix with David Charrier, the renowned chef who has crafted a sophisticated menu using produce from the estate and meticulously selected small producers. This expertise pays homage to the wines that emerge from this magnificent estate.

Its grand vin, Château Troplong Mondot, is a significant benchmark of the viticultural tradition of Saint-Émilion. Situated at the pinnacle of this prestigious appellation, at 110 meters above sea level. Vines with an average age of 35 years of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc spread out in a single piece around the château, rooted in soils of limestone, clay, chalk, and flint. Once the grapes reach their optimal ripeness, they are hand-harvested and immediately transported to the winery. There, the best grapes are selected, destemmed, and crushed to initiate fermentation in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Afterwards, 60% of the wine undergoes aging in French oak barrels and the remaining 40% in stainless steel tanks.

Not to forget that the origins of Troplong Mondot date back to the 18th century, Château Troplong Mondot is a wine that stands out for its power, good structure, and tannic complexity. This savoir-faire is proudly preserved on the estate itself and extends to the rest of the world, reaffirming its prestige in global viticulture.

Château Troplong Mondot 2023 is a red wine with an elegant blend of spices and ripe fruits. On the nose, blackberry and blueberry notes stand out. On the palate, it offers a medium to full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a lively finish that leaves a fresh and refined sensation. Its texture is as smooth as cashmere, and the limestone is wonderfully perceptible, providing a compact and concentrated structure.
