Clío 2023 is a red wine that presents itself as deep and captivating from the very first moment, with an intense bouquet where very ripe black fruit —almost like a compote— intertwines with cocoa, coffee, liquorice, and a perfectly integrated balsamic and mineral backdrop. On the palate, it is expansive, fleshy, and velvety, with an unctuous texture that fills the mouth without losing freshness, thanks to a vibrant acidity. The tannins, polished and elegant, support a powerful yet harmonious ensemble with a long finish. The finish is persistent, seductive, and leaves a trace that invites silence, fine dining, and memorable shared moments.

About Clio

Clio is a red wine from D.O. Jumilla, crafted by Bodegas El Nido.
The winery is part of the Gil Family Estates group. This group is renowned for its Juan Gil winery, although it also owns other wineries such as Atalaya, Ateca, and Shaya, among others.

Clio is a blend of monastrell and cabernet sauvignon varieties sourced from vineyards situated around the winery. The monastrell variety comes from a 32-hectare vineyard of old vines, which, despite their low yield, produce grapes of exceptional quality. The soil is predominantly limestone, with a surface layer of stones. Beneath lies a sandy layer, where the roots extend in search of nutrients.

The harvest is conducted manually, and the grapes are transported to the winery in small crates to prevent damage. Once at the winery, the grapes are sorted on selection tables. Clio undergoes maceration and subsequent fermentation in small stainless steel tanks and barrels. The malolactic fermentation and subsequent ageing, which extends for 24 months, take place in new French and American oak barrels.

Clio is an outstanding wine, highly expressive of the D.O. Jumilla. A wine that captivates with its intensity and complexity.

Clio 2022 is a mature and full-bodied red wine, renowned for its intense character. On the nose, one can detect aromas of ripe berries such as blackberries and cherries, accompanied by spicy notes and a hint of smokiness. On the palate, it reveals a robust structure, with abundant, fine-grained tannins that provide an enveloping sensation. Its balanced acidity and a slight touch of residual sugar impart freshness, making this red an outstanding choice for those seeking a wine with personality.
2021

Clio 2021 is a red wine that captivates from the outset with its profound aroma of ripe fruits such as blackberry and blueberry, augmented by sweet nuances of candied fruit. On the palate, it unfolds with a robust and flavorful presence, where the dense and sweet tannins interlace to bestow a sumptuous and full-bodied texture. Hints of roasted coffee, cocoa, and licorice enhance the tasting journey, culminating in a prolonged and refined finish. This wine is distinguished by its vigor and richness, promising to evolve splendidly with bottle aging.
2012 A wine that is tasty and powerful. Concentrated and sweet tannins. A long and elegant finish.

Pretty cherry red colour with garnet rim.

Intense on the nose which includes blackberries and blueberries. Candied fruit, coffee, cocoa and liquorice.
2010 A wine with a powerful, wide and bulky attack and a long, smooth and tasty mid palate. It is a full-bodied wine with a great acidity and elegant tannins. Its finish is very long and very persistent. It shows all the requirements to have a brilliant evolution in the bottle. A great red wine. A must.

Intense cherry color, with maroon edges. Clean and bright wine with abundant, thin and elegant tears.

Clean nasal aromas with a high intensity. Its outstanding aromas of juicy and ripe red and black fruit, almost stewed, are released along with notes of spices, cocoa, coffee, liquorice and some balsamic touches and elegant grassy and toasted hints. Its powerful nasal aromas evolve in the glass while its intensity and expressiveness stay intact.
2009 Clio Magnum is a wine with a wide attack and a silky, creamy and very tasty mid palate. Its notes of fruit and wood are nicely balanced. Sweet and silky tannins. Very long finish and great persistence. A wine that will leave an unforgettable aftertaste.
