About Comalats Marquesa

Under the motto "vins lliures" (free wines in Catalan), the Bonet family has been crafting soulful wines since 1989, remaining true to the land and tradition. In the heart of Lleida, between the Forés mountain range and Cervera, they have revived the wine legacy of Segarra with a clear vision: to create organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, without additives or artifices.

The name Comalats is no coincidence. In Catalan, a valley is a "coma" and a series of valleys, a "comalada." This is the name of the landscape surrounding the winery, a collection of mountains and valleys that shape its identity and each of its wines.

In this quest for authenticity, Comalats Marquesa is born, an orange wine made from the picapoll blanco variety, a native variety recovered in the Vall del Corb, planted in clay and limestone soil at 700 metres above sea level. The grapes macerate with their skins for five days in concrete tanks and ferment in clay, without intervention, without haste, allowing nature to set the pace. Here, there is no wood to tame it, for this wine expresses itself with complete freedom.

The result is a vibrant wine, full of character and history, like its name, Comalats Marquesa. A tribute to Segarra, to its land, and to those who believe the best wine is the one that speaks for itself.
