About Conde de Valdemar Reserva

Conde de Valdemar Reserva is a red wine made from a traditional coupage of the Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo varieties that grow in Bodegas Valdemar’s own vineyards spread across three large areas of the D.O.C. Rioja: Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alavesa.

Bodegas Valdemar is a classic winery in the Denominación de Origen Rioja, where they have been cultivating their own vineyards since 1889. A history that culminated in the 80s when Jesús Martínez Bujanda, 4th generation of the family, built his own winery. Fitted with state-of-the-art facilities and a renewed style, Valdemar broke into the market as one of the most innovative wineries in Rioja. Alongside his two children, he is still working to maintain his personal style with balanced, complex and long aging wines.

Valdemar stands out for its over 275 hectares of vineyards spread across the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Specifically, the Conde de Valdemar Reserva comes from vineyards located in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. These are vineyards planted in clay-limestone and limestone soils that lie in a continental climate and are cultivated in the most traditional style.

Following the harvest, Conde de Valdemar Reserva is vinified in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. It then ages in American (65%) and French (35%) oak barrels for 27 months. Finally, once bottled, it rests in the bottle for a further 24 months.

Conde de Valdemar Reserva is the best example of the Valdemar winery’s experience in making long aging wines. It is an elegant, fruity red wine with a rich organoleptic complexity.
