About Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva

Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva is a red wine from the D.O. Rioja produced by El Coto de Rioja, a winery established in 1970 by a group of individuals with esteemed reputation and extensive experience in the wine industry.

The winery is located in Oyón (Álava). The climate in this region is moderately continental with significant Mediterranean and Bay of Biscay influences, although the Sierra de Cantabria serves as a natural barrier, shielding the vineyards from the cold northern winds.

This wine is a single-varietal Tempranillo sourced from the winery's own vineyards planted on diverse soil types: clay-limestone, clay-ferrous, and alluvial.
Regarding production, fermentation is conducted in stainless steel tanks for 21 to 30 days, followed by maceration to achieve a wine balanced in fruit and extract.

Finally, Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva spends a minimum of 24 months in American and French oak barrels and 36 months in the bottle.

2001 In the palate, this Spanish wine is complex, round and polished. It has a good acidity which makes it crispy and provides it with a long mid palate and silky tannins. It has a long finish with smoked and fruity aromas at retro-olfaction.

Beautiful ruby red colour with brick red edges. Clean and bright.

Intense and elegant nasal aromas. Its nice toasted and spicy notes give way to hints of leather, wet earth and aromas of red fruit and nuts.
