About Domaine Georges Vernay Sainte-Agathe


Domaine Georges Vernay Sainte-Agathe is a Syrah variety red wine made by Domaine Georges Vernay in the Rhone Valley (IGP Collines Rhodaniennes).

Domaine Georges Vernay is well-known as a winery, which has helped to preserve the small Condrieu denomination. It is now run by Georges Vernay’s daughter Christine, producing a great variety of wines in the prestigious Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and Côtes-du-Rhône denominations. As well as continuing the family wine legacy, she organizes a biennial music event, hosted in the heart of the estate.


Domaine Georges Vernay Sainte-Agathe comes from old 40-year-old vines located on south, southeast facing terraces and planted on decaying granite soil. They use respectful agriculture methods with organic treatments, no pesticides and no machinery. All their work is manual and the harvest is placed in boxes.

Once in the winery, the grape skin rasps are separated before vinification. Domaine Georges Vernay Sainte-Agathe ferments in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks that are drained after 2 to 3 weeks. It is then aged in used barrels for 12 months.

Domaine Georges Vernay Sainte-Agathe is a red wine full of charm and a beautiful roundness, with an annual production of just 6,000 bottles.
2017 Domaine Georges Vernay Sainte-Agathe 2017 is a fruity red wine with deep aromas of red fruit and spicy touches. On the palate it has a good acidity, with freshness and breadth.
