About Domaine Sylvain Bzikot Bourgogne Cote D'Or Pinot Noir 2020

When grandfather Joseph Bzikot fled Poland in 1940 with just the clothes on his back and settled in Meursault, little could he have imagined that his domain would become what it is today. It is now a winery producing great wines from the most prestigious denominations of the Côte de Beaune. In the early days he practiced polyculture with vines and animals, but later moved to Puligny Montrachet and dedicated himself entirely to his vineyards. This work was continued by his son Stanislas with great success and has now been passed onto Sylvain Bzikot, who has expanded into well-known Burgundy production areas like Saint-Aubin, Volnay, Santenay, Auxey-Duresses and Puligny-Montrachet. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir star in their creations and, while the whites are wonderfully fruity and fresh, the reds are rich, spicy and full of nuances.

An example of their expertise can be found in Domaine Sylvain Bzikot Bourgogne Cote D'Or Pinot Noir, a single-variety Pinot Noir from vineyards planted in the 1970s within the AOC Bourgogne Cote d'Or. With an extensive knowledge of the terroir, they practice respectful agriculture that won’t harm the natural balance of the vine. The grapes are harvested and selected by hand and, once they reach the winery, they are vinified with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks for 12 months.

Domaine Sylvain Bzikot Bourgogne Cote D'Or Pinot Noir 2020 is a smooth red wine with aromas of black fruit over a sweet spicy background. On the palate it is meaty, crisp and well balanced. A wine with beautiful acidity, fine tannins and a pleasantly fresh finish.
