About Eguren Ugarte Crianza

Eguren Ugarte Crianza is a red wine from D.O. Rioja produced by Bodegas Eguren Ugarte, one of the wineries owned by the Eguren family.

This classic wine is a coupage of, mainly, Tempranillo and a small percentage of Grenache. The grapes are grown in vineyards located in Labastida, Páganos and Elciego, the heart of Rioja Alavesa.
The climate in this area is Mediterranean but with a great Atlantic influence. Sierra de Cantabria acts as a natural protection barrier for cold winds from the north.
The vines are planted in clay-lime soils located at an altitude between 400 and 700 metres above sea level. The soils demonstrate the marvellous characteristics of the vine cultivation.
The harvest is done mechanically in order to ensure the grapes are collected at the optimum moment. After the selection of the grapes in the winery, there is a destemming and squeezing.
Afterwards, the must undergoes a fermentation with selected yeast for 15 days at a controlled temperature of 25-28ªC. There is a daily pumping during this process.
Once the fermentation finishes, there is a maceration for 7 days.

Finally, Eguren Ugarte Crianza rests in American and French oak barrels for 15 months undergoing a racking every 4-6 months. The aging process finishes with 6 months in the bottle before being released onto the market.

Eguren Ugarte Crianza 2021 stands out with its brilliant, intense cherry-red hue. Upon bringing it to the nose, one detects a hint of toasted wood and a subtle note of vanilla. On tasting, it is an expressive and fruity wine, where flavours of blackberry and cherry intertwine. The mature tannins add body and volume, creating a concentrated profile that delights the palate.

Eguren Ugarte Crianza 2019 unfolds with a rich tapestry of aromas featuring ripe cherries and blackberries, intricately woven with hints of toasted oak, vanilla, and hazelnut, crafting a warm and inviting bouquet. Upon tasting, its silky texture and mature tannins envelop the palate, delivering a substantial body and a depth of flavors that beckon one to indulge further. 2011 On the palate it is a wine with good structure, body and volume. Ripe and round tannins. Vanilla aftertaste.

Ruby colour. Clean and bright.

On the nose it is very intense with a predominance of ripe red fruit, blueberries, currants, plums, roasted notes from the aging.
2010 Aromatic on the palate. Ripe, well blended tannins that give body, structure and volume to the wine. A finish with a hint of vanilla.

2008 Very elegant and soft wine with a silky and tasty mdi palate. Its notes of fruit, wood and spices (vanilla, chocolate, coffee) are well balanced and keep a perfect structure. Its marked acidity provides it with freshness. Tannins still need to finish polishing in the bottle. Long finish with good persistence that leaves toasted aromas. A very nice wine.

Dark cherry colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright wine with thin tears.

From the calm wine, plenty of ripe red and black fruit is perceived with a touch of wood. When it opens up, the fruit becomes much more intense and its aromas are mixed with milky, creamy, vanilla and elegant toasted hints. Very balanced wine with a perfect harmony.
2007 Agressive entry, with a more than correct acidity. Soft tannins make this wine pleasant to drink.

 



Garnet cherry color, intense and brilliant.

Ripe fruit, especially black fruit, dominates the aromas typical of the breed. Spicy notes and a light touch of toasted wood.
2006 Mouth: soft tannins that make their intake more pleasant and bearable
