About El Coto 875M Finca Carbonera Fermentado En Barrica Chardonnay

El Coto 875m is a white wine of the Chardonnayvariety from El Coto de Rioja. El Coto de Rioja was founded in 1970, and in record time succeeded in becoming one of the most popular wineries in La Rioja.

The grapes for El Coto 875m come from La Finca Carbonera, an estate at a maximum altitude of 875 metres above sea level. The vineyard stands on a glacis with a gentle slope and a large accumulation of stones that helps to keep the grapes healthy and encourages their ripening.

In 2017 El Coto de Riojaopened the winery in its Finca Carbonera to vinify the white varieties it grows there.

To produce El Coto 875m the grape is destemmed and macerated cold. It is then pressed gently. During the pre-fermentation operations, the grape is protected from oxygen to prevent oxidation and microbial attacks. The fermentation takes place at 16 ºC to extract and preserve the fruity aromas offered by the variety, and ends up in unroasted casks to avoid giving roasted aromas the final wine, and the typicity of the Chardonnayis respected to the full. At the end of the fermentation the wine remains in contact with the lees and periodicalbattonages are performed, stirring the lees, to give the wine complexity, unctuousness and creaminess.
