About El Origen de Prieto Pariente

El Origen de Prieto Pariente is a red wine blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties, crafted as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León by Bodegas Prieto Pariente in Valladolid, Spain.

El Origen de Prieto Pariente hails from a single vineyard in Muciantes, situated on the plateaus of Valladolid and is produced from a selection of very old vines. These vineyards are located in the D.O. Cigales on soils composed of sands, limestones, and gypsiferous marls resting on clays and marls.

The grapes used to produce El Origen de Prieto Pariente undergo spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Following racking, malolactic fermentation and aging occur over 11 months in 228-litre oak barrels before bottling.

Bodegas Prieto Pariente is a personal venture of siblings Ignacio and Martina Prieto Pariente, the third generation of the family behind Bodega José Pariente, where, interestingly, white wines are the specialty. With this range of red wines crafted from the selection of unique vineyards, the Prieto Pariente siblings aim to offer a faithful portrayal of the terroir expressed through fresh, fruity, and elegant wines.

2014 El Origen de Prieto Pariente 2014 is a red wine that offers ripe fruit notes, toasted touches and nuances of balsamic freshness on the nose. On the palate it is flavoursome, smooth and clear but complex, with a robust, meaty tannin, powerful and warm mid-palate and a lingering finish.
