Finca La Oración 2021 is a red wine with a deep cherry hue and a medium-high layer. On the nose, without swirling the glass, it releases aromas of ripe blackberries and a hint of exotic spices. On the palate, it impresses with its powerful attack, being silky and marked by flavours of ripe fruits and a subtle hint of citrus. Its passage is velvety, with well-balanced tannins and notes of roasted coffee. The aftertaste is warm yet fresh, with good acidity and a smooth profile.

About Finca La Oración

Paco Oliván, owner of Hacienda Grimón, first came into contact with wine at a very early age. As he explains, “they put wine and sugar on my dummy”. So it seemed very likely that this baby would one day enter into this business. However, like many other wineries in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, although the family had a long winemaking history in the Jubera Valley (La Rioja) and their main source of income was selling grapes, it was not until 1999 that they decided to start making their own wines. With no specific training but with plenty of experience in viticulture, he took the plunge at the age of 42 and with an environmental conscience and an obsession for the vineyard he ended up showing the world that dreams don’t go out of date. This adventure went from strength to strength with his two daughters getting involved, Alba as winemaker and director of the winery and Sara in charge of the commercial aspect and export.

The Finca La Oración red wine comes from a plot with the same name. This vineyard is about 38 hectares in size and planted with the Tempranillo variety at 650 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using traditional methods and without any kind of poison or herbicides. In the vineyard, production is limited to approximately 5500 kilos per hectare so that the quality of the fruit is higher. The harvest is carried out manually and selectively at the optimum point of ripeness.

Finca La Oración is made by draining the must during the night to get the free-run juice or essence of the wine before pressing. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels, 50% French oak and 50% American oak and the wine is aged for 7 months in second year barrels. When the wine is ready, it is bottled with a natural clarification and rests for a year and a half before being sold.

As a result, Finca La Oración is an estate wine with its own personality. A charismatic Tempranillo in its purest form that invites you into the exciting world of the Grimón family.

Finca La Oración 2017 is a smooth red wine with an intense and complex nose that perfectly combines ripe black fruit aromas with notes of exotic spices. On the palate it is powerful, velvety and very energetic. A wine marked by ripe fruit, with silky, well-balanced tannins and a warm yet fresh finish.
