About Flor de Muga Rosado
Flor de Muga Rosado is a rosé wine produced by Bodegas Muga in Haro, D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Bodegas Muga is one of the historic wineries of Rioja. Located in Haro, in the town Barrio de la Estación, they started to produce wines in 1932 thanks to the married couple formed by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño.
Bodegas Muga has managed to combine the family tradition with a renewed vision of the future, which has allowed them to maintain a unique character and personality in their wines. It is also one of the few wineries in La Rioja that uses oak wood from its own cooperage in all the stages of production and ageing processes. An exemplary winery and one of the most prestigious ones in La Rioja. Since its early days, vintage after vintage they produce wines with the family seal: "Muga style".
Bodegas Muga own more than 250 hectares of vineyards and they have supply agreements for another 150 hectares from permanent suppliers. This control and the diversity of vineyards allow them to have a suitable climate and soil for each variety, which results in extracting all the potential of the grapes, ensuring the maximum quality of its wines.
Flor de Muga Rosado is a wine made from Grenache, from old vineyards (between 70 and 90 years old), located at an altitude of between 600 and 750 metres, with two types of soil, clayey-ferrous and clayey-calcareous.
The harvest is performed by hand and placed in boxes. They carry out a selection of plots, and only the best grapes are harvested, in the best conditions. This wine is only made from the flor must, and only 50% of the Premium must is used. After a short maceration, the grapes ferment in small wooden deposits, plot by plot. Once the fermentation at a low temperature has finished, they rest with their fine lees for at least 4 months. Once the wine has been unified and stabilised it is bottled.
Flor de Muga Rosado is an elegant, fresh and delicate wine. Very few bottles of this delight that can be good company at any time of the day.
