Flor de Vetus 2022 is a red wine that presents itself as robust and fortified from the outset, with aromas blending ripe red and black fruits, hints of liquorice, warm spices, and a delicate undertone of coffee caramel and toasted bread. About Flor de Vetus

Among all the Spanish denominations of origin, the DO Toro is the one that has undergone the fewest changes. This region, located to the southeast of Zamora, retains the same vines and varieties that made it so renowned during Roman times and the Middle Ages (when it even enjoyed royal privileges). However, there is always an exception to the rule, and new wines emerge aiming to "transgress" these norms, such as Flor de Vetus. 
 
Flor de Vetus is a single-varietal tempranillo (known as tinta de toro) that matures for approximately one year in French oak barrels. Specifically, these wines adhere to the most typical profile of this area, where tempranillo adapts effortlessly, while simultaneously seeking to write new chapters in the history of this denomination through profound and captivating wines. These vines, cultivated organically on the 20 hectares surrounding the Villabuena del Puente winery, are perfectly suited to the loamy-clay soils and the extreme continental climate of this region, where Atlantic influences are occasionally felt. This results in long winters followed by short, warm summers, with significant temperature variations and contrasts between day and night. 
 
Flor de Vetus is harvested manually in 15-kilogram boxes and brought to the winery where the bunches are meticulously selected. After destemming, only the finest grapes proceed to the stainless steel tanks where alcoholic and malolactic fermentation begins. Finally, Flor de Vetus undergoes less than a year of aging in new and used American and French oak barrels. 
 
Tradition and innovation go hand in hand and coexist in Flor de Vetus, an essential choice for all lovers of fine red wines.

On the nose, there are also notes of smoked meat and grilled Mediterranean herbs, accompanied by a hint of peppercorns. On the palate, it is a fleshy and juicy wine, with a flavourful core that reveals spices. Its tannins are firm and savoury, providing a good structure. 2019 Flor de Vetus 2019 is a red wine with a marked fruit character on the nose, accompanied by subtle toasty and undergrowth notes. The palate is juicy and fresh, with a pleasant sweetness, showing its delicious fruit accompanied by nuances of liquorice. A very easy to drink red wine.
2017

Flor de Vetus 2017 is a supple red wine redolent with scents of ripe red and black fruit, hints of sweet spices, and nuances of dairy and toasted elements. On the palate, it is robust, velvety, and glyceric. This wine boasts affable tannins, a vibrant acidity, and a prolonged, aromatic finish.
2013 Powerful and cool at times, in passing it is marked by a very high burden of liquorice and fruit. It has good acidity and high tannin sensation. Long, correct persistence.

Dark cherry with violet tones. Clean and bright, has an abundant glyceric tear.

Medium-high intensity which clearly dominates the fruit. Berries, currants, blackberries, and black berries give way to balsamic, spices and lactic notes. Background of soft toast.
2011 In the mouth, it is a very powerful wine, with a mid-palate marked by a great load of fruit with a quite high alcoholic content. Great acidity and high tannic sensation. Medium-bodied red wine which is very nice and sweet. Long finish with a correct persistence.

Dark cherry red colour with violet tones. Clean and bright, abundant load of glycerine, slightly coloured.

Medium-high nose in which the fruit stands out. Red fruit, redcurrant and blackberries give way to balsamic, spiced and lactic notes. Soft toasted nuances in the background.
