About Gosset Grand Réserve

Synonymous with elegance and tradition. A glass of Gosset Grande Réserve is a true luxury, the ultimate expression of the oldest winery in the A.O.C. Champagne (in northwest France).

This winery dates back more than four centuries in the Aÿ grand cru (in Épernay), with Jean Gosset, Lord of Aÿ and Mareuil, the first known family member to dedicate himself to making and selling champagnes. At the time, the terroir had not yet been classified by the Échelle de Crus (a 1927 law that classifies vineyards according to their quality), but from the beginning, with or without classification, the entire history of this house has been based on the same objective: to obtain the best terroir. And this was achieved by the next 16 generations of the Gosset family, with their vineyards classified as grand cru in the early twentieth century.

However, at the end of the century, the estate became the property of the Renaud-Cointreau family, who lifted Gosset Grande Réserve to the highest level of excellence. In fact, this family, famous for also owning the Cognac Frapin label, is still working hard to maintain this grandeur in the vineyard, specifically in the premier cru and grand cru of the Côte des Blancs, Grand Vallée de la Marne and Montagne de Reims where the grapes are harvested. Here the chalk soil (very porous and water-retaining) and the oceanic and continental climate (with moderate rainfall and low temperatures), produce a tremendously appetising level of acidity, resulting in fresh and delicious champagnes. This acidity is well very displayed by the Gosset Grande Réserve where, unlike most producers in the area, malolactic fermentation is avoided in order to guarantee this natural acidity. The production process happens in separate batches and the fermentation temperatures are controlled in order to enhance the aromas. Finally, Gosset Grande Réserve is assembled blind, without using traditional recipes, and is stored in dark cellars for 3 to 7 years.

A true luxury worthy of the best collectors and the most exquisite palates.
