About Heinrich Naked White

Heinrich Naked White is a white wine coupage of the Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and other local white varieties, produced by the Weingut Heinrich winery in the Burgenland denomination, Austria.

 

The grapes used to make this “naked white” wine come from vineyards lying on both sides of Lake Neusiedl. The west side has limestone and shale soils from the slopes of the Leitha mountains, and on the west side the vines are planted in soils with predominantly humus-rich gravels. The plots are worked according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually from the end of August to mid-September.

 

When the grapes reach the winery, the whole clusters macerate overnight and spontaneously ferment with their native yeasts. The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is then aged on its fine lees for 14 months in large used oak barrels. The wine is finally bottled without filtering, clarifying or adding sulphur.

 

Weingut Heinrich is a winery specialising in the production of authentic wines, with a local character and no mask, just like this Heinrich Naked White. These wines are free from gimmicks and anything artificial and are a great way to get to know the area and see the respect and minimal intervention with which the vineyards are worked, as well as the honest personality of the grapes and their producers.

 

2018 Heinrich Naked White 2018 is a white wine with aromas of pear skin, nutmeg, and rose petals on the nose, accompanied by a subtle calcareous minerality. A white wine with a palate rich in peaches and ripe melons, and the perfect introduction to the authentic wines made by this winery. For best results, we recommend mixing before serving.
