About Herrigoia

Herrigoia is a red wine produced in Rioja by El Mozo Wines in Lanciego, Alava.

El Mozo Wines is a family winery with 40 years of history. The third generation Itxaso, Gorka and little Unai are currently in charge of the project. They all used to work in different sectors, and due to certain circumstances, they returned to their roots to contribute to the great legacy of the family vineyards.

The vineyards´ 9 hectares are spread out over the town of La Rioja Alavesa de Lanciego, divided into 18 different micro-plots. Some of the vines are more than 70 years old.

The grapes to produce the Herrigoia come from 10 micro-plots and the varieties used are 85% Tempranillo and the rest Viura and Malvasía. It ferments in big cement tanks with its own yeast, where carbonic maceration takes place and also where it ages.
