About Invincible Blanco Nº 2

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic had a negative effect on many things. However, not everything was bad during the nearly 98 days of lockdown. Good things also came out of this time at home, like Companhia de Vinhos Invencível. This is a project set up by winemakers Rita Marques and Marc Kent to produce different and unique wines.

This time the couple, who had already worked together on several occasions since 2015, moved to the heart of Cima Corgo, specifically to Casais Do Douro, a village in this sub-region lying between the Douro and Porto (in the northwest of Portugal). This is where Rita and Marc have dedicated themselves to cultivating the area’s white varieties: Rabigato, Códega, Donzelinhó, Boal and Códega do Larinho. All of these are used to make Invincible Blanco N.º 2.

On the steep slopes, with different altitudes and orientations and schist and granitic soils (with little organic matter), these 90+ year old vines take root with ease. The climate is very extreme, with cold, wet winters and hot, dry summers. These contrasts help the grapes to ripen, creating bunches with well-balanced acidity.

Invincible Blanco N.º 2 is vinified and aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. A very interesting product that can’t be missed. 

2020

Mineral touches, citrus fruits and a smoky background. With these aromas, it is impossible to resist Invincible Blanco N.º 2 2020. It is a creamy wine that is bright golden yellow in colour, very aromatic and complex. In the glass it appears bright golden yellow in colour and continues with an intense expression on the nose where quince, apple and jasmine mingle. The palate is acidic, vibrant and a bit liquorish. Long, dry finish.
2019

Invincible Blanco N.º 2 2019 is a creamy, spicy and intense white. The nose is complex with notes of apricot, oak and walnut. The palate is meaty and very tasty, with a hint of cheese. Very rich and well-balanced acidity. Long, saline and smoky finish.
