About Itsasmendi

Itsasmendi is a Txacolí made by Bodegas Itsamendi in Bizcaiko Txacolina.

This white wine is a blend of the indigenous varieties, Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Zuri zerratie. The grapes come from several small plots located in the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai, in the province of Vizcaya in the Basque Country.

The soils in different plots are diverse, containing limestone, marl and calcareous rocks. This variety of soils means that Txacolí obtains all the typical characteristics and uniqueness of the area.

The climate is influenced by the Cantabrian Sea, with mild winters and cool summers. It has a large rainfall, concentrated especially in spring time when special care is needed in the vineyard.

By the late summer and early fall, the nights become fresh and days are mild,providing a proper maturation of the grapes.

Bodegas Itsamendi practices farming committed to the environment, respecting the existing plant diversity on the perimeter and on the plot.

A young, fresh, fruity and markedly Atlantic Txacoli.

2020

Itsasmendi 2020 is a wine sculpted with scents of white fruit, hints of orange blossom, and nuances of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is zesty, voluptuous and robust. A lengthy and tenacious wine with a pronounced Hondarrabi Zuri character and a delightful purity.
2014 The palate is fruity, fresh, and with a characteristically bitter end. Persistent.

Pale yellow with green hues.

The nose has a nice roasted presence. Green apple, citrus notes and some memories of plants.
2013 On the palate it is balanced, fresh, harmonious, full bodied and persistent with a slightly bitter finish.

Bright and straw-like in colour

This wine has medium-high intensity with notes of ripe, white fruit, peach skin, pineapple, grapefruit and citrus
