Street protests, political revolutions, civil unrest... Uprisings are situations of popular agitation with an element of protest or social conflict. These actions typically arise as a response to widespread dissatisfaction with existing political, social, or economic structures, and they seek to instigate significant change. It is with this irreverent idea of challenging the status quo that Judith Beck introduces us to some of the most disruptive wines. A staunch advocate of natural wines, this Austrian winery from Burgenland presents a line of wines under the name Bambule (meaning revolt), which is a true statement of intent. A genuine rebel with a cause; the cause of advocating minimal intervention and maximum dedication.

This is how Judith Beck Bambule! Pet Nat P is presented to us, a pétillant naturel ("naturally sparkling" in French) that is wild, fresh, and thoroughly rebellious. Crafted at the family estate located in the municipality of Gols (Burgenland) with the varieties saint laurent and pinot noir, the vines, planted on loamy and clay soils, are cultivated organically, limiting yields and ensuring the fruit's ripeness at harvest time. The harvest is entirely manual and, once at the winery, the selected grapes are gently pressed to initiate fermentation with native yeasts. Before the fermentation has completely finished, it is bottled so that the yeasts can consume the natural sugars still present in the wine and produce carbon dioxide. This process results in natural bubbles in the wine, an ancient method that involves no additives or additional manipulation.

Thus, showcasing the pure and vivid expression of the varietals and the unique character of the vintage, Judith Beck Bambule! Pet Nat P is a sparkling wine that breaks the mould. A remarkable example of the great moment that minimal intervention wine is currently experiencing in Burgenland. A true revolution in the more conventional world of wine!

Judith Beck Bambule! Pet Nat P 2022 is a youthful and vibrant sparkling wine with a delicate onion-skin hue. On the nose, it reveals aromas of rhubarb, almond skin, and a hint of rooibos tea, accompanied by notes of pink grapefruit. Upon tasting, its firm texture and very fine mousse stand out. Flavours of strawberries and forest floor combine with balanced acidity and a slight sweetness, culminating in a fruity and exceedingly pleasant finish.
