About Karamolegos Pyritis

In Santorini (Greece), where the sea and sky merge into a mesmerising blue and the sun seems to shine with an ancient light, a wine is born that captures the wild magic of the island. Karamolegos Pyritis is much more than a label: it is a liquid postcard from a place where the vines are trained in a basket shape, a system known as "kouloura", a traditional pruning method to protect the plants from the island's strong winds and thus embrace the volcanic soil (known as aspa) that has supported them for over a century.
 
The Artemis Karamolegos winery, nestled in Exo Gonia, is the heir to a tradition that began in 1952 with a small family "canava" (winery). Since then, it has mastered the art of interpreting the white Assyrtiko variety with fidelity to the landscape and a contemporary perspective. Artemis, a son of Santorini, knows every corner of the island and has skilfully unveiled, with patience and passion, the multiple voices of its untamed soil.
 
Karamolegos Pyritis is the purest and most refined expression of that vision. The wine originates from three century-old vineyards located in Pyrgos and Megalochori, where the vines cling to the arid terrain as an act of poetic resistance. Fermented and aged in stainless steel for over a year with fine lees, it is a white wine that presents with a seductive aroma and a voluptuous palate that balances freshness, texture, and complexity with admirable elegance.
 
Ideal for sharing under a pergola on a warm evening, or as a tribute to a summer we never want to end, this wine pairs with both sea and land dishes: seafood risotto, salmon carpaccio, or even a lamb or poultry dish.
