Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a wood-aged red wine made by Kistler with the Pinot Noir variety in AVA Sonoma Coast, in California (USA).
The Kistler Vineyards winery was set up in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. Steve is a lover of Burgundy specialising in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Mark was put in charge of business and marketing. The two together have produced exclusive fine wines with a Grand Cru character that can normally only be purchased through their mailing list. But they are now available at Decántalo!
Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir comes from a small clonal vineyard imported from a Burgundy Grand Cru. The vines were planted more than 20 years ago on the Sonoma coast, they have low yields and are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested at night to avoid high temperatures.
In the winery, Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is vinified with the utmost care, guiding the processes with the least possible intervention. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts at a moderate temperature and aging happens over 12 months in French oak barrels.
Fine and elegant, Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir has all the typical characteristics of a Bordeaux Pinot Noir but with all the beautiful nuances of the West Coast of California. Exquisitely balanced.
