About L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge

As per the insights of Stephen Carrier, the winemaker at Château de Fieuzal, "there is no prescribed moment for enjoying a wine; rather, a truly exceptional wine remains outstanding throughout its entire lifecycle." And that wine, without a shadow of a doubt, is L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge.

L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge is the second label of Château de Fieuzal, an iconic winery within the esteemed A.O.C. Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux. Its acclaim and prestige stem from historic achievements, such as in 1893 when its red wine graced the table of Pope Leo XIII, or when it was acknowledged as a Grand Cru of Bordeaux in the 1959 classification. Since then, precision and tradition have been the hallmarks of this eminent producer, renowned for its robust and sumptuous reds.

Although L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge might be the second label of the estate, and its white wines are more celebrated, do not be misled. The characteristic gravel soils of this region, along with the cool, mineral-rich sands, impart the perfect touch to the 74 individually tended and vinified plots, which are then masterfully blended to create a sublime coupage. Ultimately, L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge is crafted in the winery, outfitted with 10 oak vats, 44 stainless steel tanks, and 16 concrete tanks. Each of the latter is embellished with the names of the 17 grandchildren of Brenda and Lochlann Quinn, the current proprietors.

Following fermentation, L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge is transferred to the subterranean cellars where 800 barrels of French oak and acacia will host the 12-month maturation of L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge. A timeless classic that never goes out of style.

2019

L'Abeille de Fieuzal Rouge 2019 is a supple red, boasting a deep ruby hue with cherry nuances. On the nose, it's pronounced, brimming with dark fruit (blackcurrant, blueberries) and licorice. The palate experiences a tannic and robust profile, infused with spices and a peppery edge. Both opulent and vivacious.
