About La Fuga Finca A Xesteira

Some stories are born of the earth, while others are born of friendship. The tale of José Antonio García intertwines both. As the grandson of Santos García, a vintner from Valtuille de Abajo, José Antonio returned to Bierzo in 2010 after years in the hospitality and culinary sectors, with the resolute aim of reviving the family tradition and tending to the vineyards that his grandparents had cherished for generations. To him, every smallholding, every century-old vine, is a treasure that allows for the creation of wines that tell their own stories, capturing the essence of mencía and the land that nurtured them.

However, José Antonio's story extends beyond Bierzo. Born from his friendship with Manuel Moldes, a young vintner from Rías Baixas, is La Fuga, a venture that merges passion, reverence for the vineyard, and a desire to craft wines with character. Thus was born La Fuga Finca A Xesteira, an albariño from a unique vineyard in the Valle del Salnés. Its granite and white slate soils, the Atlantic climate, and the manual harvest in 14 kg boxes result in a vibrant, mineral, and elegant wine.

The vinification process is honest and respectful: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, batonnage during the first month, and 12 months of maturation in French oak barrels. Then, another year in the bottle, allowing the wine to mature at its own pace, as if it wishes to narrate its story with patience.

La Fuga Finca A Xesteira is a testament to how respect for the land can be transformed into something magical. Every sip connects with the hands that tended the vineyard, with the memories of the grandparents, and with the passion of two vintners who believe that true wine is born from the heart.
