About Lan Ecológico

Lan Ecológico is a red wine made from the tempranillo grape variety, produced by Bodegas LAN in the DOCa. Rioja.

Bodegas LAN, an acronym formed from the initials of the three provinces that make up the DOCa. Rioja (Logroño, Álava, and Navarra), was established in 1972 with the aim of crafting wines that remain true to their terroir. Situated in the Rioja Alta, they oversee more than 4,000 hectares of vineyards, with 72 belonging to their most esteemed estate: Viña Lanciano.

All the grapes for Lan Ecológico are sourced from an organic plot. In the vineyard, sustainable viticulture is practiced, promoting beneficial fauna that naturally protects the vines and eliminates the need for insecticides and herbicides. The harvest is conducted manually and the grapes are immediately transported to the winery to prevent oxidation or loss of aromas.

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes for Lan Ecológico are meticulously sorted both by bunch and by individual grape on a double sorting table. The alcoholic fermentation takes place over 2 to 3 weeks in stainless steel tanks using the wine's own indigenous yeasts. It undergoes an ageing process of approximately one year in new French oak barrels. Prior to being released to the market, it is refined in the bottle for less than a year.

Lan Ecológico is a red wine that meticulously preserves the quality of its raw materials. It offers an excellent opportunity to savour the pure essence of Rioja.

Lan Xtreme 2019 exhibits a deep, brilliant red hue. Upon nosing, it reveals aromas of ripe fruits such as blackberries, currants, and strawberries, complemented by spicy hints of cinnamon and pepper, with an undertone of wild aromatic herbs. On the palate, this red wine stands out for its volume and well-defined structure, offering a sweet and fresh flavour that lingers, filled with the same ripe fruits perceived on the nose, creating a prolonged and delightful tasting experience.                      
2015 Lan Xtreme 2015 is an intense wine with aromas of ripe red fruits and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate it is structured, pleasant and flavoursome.
