About Las Pedreras Barrio Los Arroyuelos

More than 30 plots located in the Sierra de Gredos form the essence of Las Pedreras Barrio Los Arroyuelos, one of the most promising organic reds on the current scene. 
 
The oenologist Bárbara Requejo and her partner, Guzmán Sánchez, are the two passionate souls behind this youthful project that began just a few years ago, when Guzmán was crafting wines for his restaurant. What started as a hobby has evolved into one of the most intriguing ventures in the area. In fact, Las Pedreras, which released its first vintage in 2020, is the first and only winery in Villanueva de Ávila, in the Alto Alberche valley of Castilla y León. Today, Bárbara and Guzmán manage a total of three hectares with an average age of 80 years. All the vines are cultivated organically and are tended to by hand, avoiding machinery, always striving to keep the soils well-aerated. 
 
The Garnacha used in Las Pedreras Barrio Los Arroyuelos is cultivated at an altitude of 900 metres on decomposed granite soils. The harvest, carried out manually, is brought to the winery where the finest bunches are selected. Some of them, only a percentage, enter whole into the fermentation tanks, awaiting the indigenous yeasts to begin their work. After 45 days, Las Pedreras Barrio Los Arroyuelos will be transferred to used French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks where it will rest for approximately half a year. 
 
When Bárbara and Guzmán embarked on their journey, Las Pedreras Barrio Los Arroyuelos was merely a project. No one imagined they would reach the heights they have. In just a few years, Las Pedreras Barrio Los Arroyuelos has become an essential reference not to be missed.
