About Le Carillon d'Angélus

The bell symbol is traditionally used to call attention and announce something important, and its sound is often associated with celebration and joy. In the specific case of Château Angélus, a prestigious vineyard and wine producer in Bordeaux (France), it is its brand image. The origin of this symbol goes back to the history of the family that founded the château. According to legend, in the 19th century, an antique bell clock located in the neighbouring chapel rang to summon the faithful to prayers. The family adopted the bell as an emblem and symbol of good fortune. A logo with golden Baroque lines that has been maintained throughout the ages and represents the tradition, quality and elegance of its wines.

Le Carillon d'Angélus is a second wine that, like the rest of the Château Angélus wines, represents values of tradition, modernity and exigency at the service of the property's reputation. Sourced from 18 hectares of merlot and cabernet franc vineyards planted on clay, sand and silt soils, this is a Grand Cru in Saint-Emilion that, with careful work on the vegetation, produces a magnificent vintage. In the cellar, vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and post-fermentation maceration lasts 1 to 3 weeks. Finally, the wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.

Behind a logo that is the true symbol of the House, Le Carillon d'Angélus is a wine with its own identity. Complex, elegant and with great aging potential, it is a true reflection of a unique terroir that, like its bell, calls for excellence.
