About Vinos del Paseante Leiras

Vinos del Paseante Leiras is a young single-varietal white wine produced by the winery Vinos del Paseante, part of the Codorniu Group, using the Albariño variety in the D.O. Rías Baixas, in Galicia (Spain).
 
Founded in 1551, Codorniu is considered the oldest family-owned winery in Spain and is primarily renowned for being one of the first to produce cava. However, in recent years, it has ventured into still wines, engaging in numerous projects within prestigious denominations across Spain and the world, establishing Codorniu as a significant group present on five continents.
 
Vinos del Paseante is a collection of wines that delightfully introduces us to some of the most renowned Spanish Denominations of Origin such as Rueda, Bierzo, and Montsant. In this instance, Vinos del Paseante Leiras originates from a vineyard located in the Valle do Salnes, in the Rías Baixas. These vines flourish under the influence of the Atlantic Ocean and are harvested by hand in 20 kg boxes at their optimal ripeness.
 
In the winery, the grapes of Vinos del Paseante Leira are first destemmed and gently pressed. The resulting must then ferments at a controlled temperature of 16-18°C. Finally, the wine remains on its lees before being stabilized and bottled.
 
Under the name Leiras, which means estate in Galician, Vinos del Paseante presents its most distinguished Albariño. A fresh, mineral wine with the distinctive character of Rías Baixas.

Vinos del Paseante Leiras 2024 strides lightly yet with assuredness: a fresh, silky albariño with that mineral edge that only Val do Salnés can bestow. On the nose, notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, and freshly cut grass burst forth, akin to an Atlantic breeze amidst fields and ripe fruits. On the palate, it is broad and balanced, with a lively acidity that renders it vibrant and highly enjoyable. Perfect for losing track of time among seafood, rice dishes, or a well-conversed aperitif.
