About Lo Vilero

Although Mallorca is a small island, it boasts a wealth of offerings, particularly in the realm of wine. Thanks to the vision and dedication of luminaries such as Grimalt and Caballero of Cuatro Kilos, Cati Ribot of Ve d’Avior, and Eloi Cerdà of Sistema Vinari, the low-intervention wines from this region have garnered well-deserved acclaim and are captivating palates worldwide. These three ventures not only share a common philosophy but their wines, with a distinctive identity, perfectly embody the Mediterranean spirit: light, fresh, and full of character.

What truly sets these initiatives apart is the synergy that exists among them. In the case of Eloi's micro-productions, they are born through the support and collaboration of the other two projects, creating a network of work that showcases the best of Mallorca. A prime example of this is Lo Vilero, a natural wine crafted by Eloi in Cati's winery in Santa Margalida, in the northeast of the island. This space has become a genuine laboratory, where young viticulturists and winemakers, thanks to Cati's generosity, gather to share knowledge and create wines from the island's lesser-known grape varieties.

Lo Vilero is a natural wine made from escursac, an indigenous variety cultivated on the clayey Mallorcan soil known as Cal Vermell. In the winery, carbonic maceration is conducted, and the vinification process is divided between stainless steel tanks and 500 L French oak barrels, where the wine undergoes a six-month maturation.

The result is Lo Vilero, a wine that not only speaks of the island but also of passion, collaboration, and respect for its land. Truly a Mallorcan gem of which there are very few bottles available!
